Busy Bees around here.

Lately, we’ve had a ton going on.

The boys and I went to Austin 2 weekends back to visit my college friend Dana and her family.  We had such a great time.  The boys played outside, even when it was too cold, and the adults chatted and chatted.  We might have even played a little Wii Fit.  Zach did amazingly well.

Then, the day after we got back, my mom fell and broke her hip.  I spent that Monday out in Richmond getting her all checked in and settled at the hospital, where she’ll be for awhile.

I had a funny feeling in my stomach all day.  In the back of my head I thought it might be appendicitis, but I really didn’t have time for that, so I kept pushing that to the back of my head.  At midnight on Monday, I decided I needed to go to the ER.  So I tried to tell Neil…but the was sound asleep.  I just drove up there myself.  And guess what??????  It was appendicitis and I had surgery that day at 1p.m. to have it removed.  Nothing like having surgery at one hospital on the same day that your mom is having her hip replaced at a different hospital.  It was not an easy day for anyone, especially my great sister, who went to work, came to my hospital for my surgery, then rushed to my mom’s hospital for her surgery and stayed there until around midnight.  Thank goodness ICU won’t let you spend the night.

More later…Jake has a tee-ball game tomorrow. First one.  I’ll miss it but his super grandparents will take him and pictures.  Hooray for family

Bathroom

OK…here’s the before and after pics of the bathroom redo.

It was just the potty room in my master bath, but still…it’s redone.

Before.

Before…the plain white book holder on the plain white wall.

And here is the color after I cut in.

Ended up not liking that color since Jake

said it looked like Tee-tee. But it pretty much stayed

but just went a shade lighter.

And here is the final product. Hooray. I love it.

I know the color looks gold…but it is an avocado green.

I got the black shelf from mom's garage. It was painted white.

I painted it black with several coats. And I had it just perfect...

right before I backed over it in the driveway. So then I had to REPAIR it...

then start over with the paint. (typical Polly)

I also added black light switch cover and painted the toilet paper

holder black.

Here is a close up of the frame. I got it out of mom’s attic,

put a piece of scrapbook paper in it and glued

that clip in there and clipped on that picture of mom and me.

Not sure if you can see the other frame. It came from mom’s attic, as well.

I glued in scrapbook paper and then glued on that cross.

I got the basket at some store after Christmas and it was 50% off.

So…do you love my new potty room? You can come potty here anytime.

My Holiday, Kid Friendly Garland.

I took all of Zachary's Thomas the Train engines and put them in the garland. I got this idea from The Nester, a great blog I read. The boys think it's great.

A&M beats Army

Last weekend, A&M played Army. My bro-in-law is a junior at West Point, and he came in for the game. My 2 oldest nephews both go to A&M. So we went up for the game. My 3rd nephew went up with me on Friday night. He stayed with his brother and I stayed with Neil's mom in this little garage apt. It was great. For the game, we sat about 3 rows from the Sun, I mean the top. We were tired and sunburned after the game...but that's OK, b/c A&M won. Whew. Before the game, which honored all the military, Army had 4 blackhawk helicopters flyover. That was so cool. Then they had 4 guys parachute in. They landed dead center field as well. Very very cool. Enjoy the pics.

20 years just flew by...

This past weekend was my 20th high school reunion. How did I graduate with all those old people....Ha! Just kidding. Richmond must have some really good water, b/c I thought most everyone looked great. And there were no really big surprises. Just a lot of really good memories and laughs. The planners did a great job and I was blessed by them doing it and me not. God Bless ya, folks.
